William F. Marovitz, PhD
CEO and President
|
William
F. Marovitz, PhD, is the Chief Executive Officer
and President of Cerebrio. In addition to his
managerial and financial duties, he spearheads
the company’s science- and medical-based
innovation, elevating medical education and scientific
learning to even higher standards. He supports
key research endeavors in the areas of technology
and educational development for the company’s
two operating divisions, Cerebrio CME, and Guidenz,
the medical and strategic informatics consulting
division.
Dr. Marovitz has been a pioneer in online business
and medical publishing since the inception of
the Internet. In 1982, he developed an information
retrieval system that formed the basis for the
first commercial medical information company on
the Web, BRS Information Technologies. He was
President and CEO of Elscint, a large medical
imaging company which, at the time of his tenure,
was the only Israeli company listed on the NYSE.
Prior to joining Cerebrio, he served as President,
Publisher, and CEO of Churchill Livingstone, the
world’s oldest medical publishing company
and the producer of Grey’s Anatomy.
Dr. Marovitz received his bachelor of arts and
doctorate degrees in Anatomy & Physiology
from the University of California at Berkeley.
He served as Professor of Anatomy, heading the
departments of Gross Anatomy and Anatomy in Otolaryngology
at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
During his tenure at Mount Sinai, Dr. Marovitz
was very involved with head and neck oncologic
surgery, and he has published extensively on the
development of the ear. He has also been actively
involved in electron microscopic observations
in Hodgkin’s lymphoma and murine oncovirus
(Friend’s virus), as well as several technique
studies on laryngeal oncologic surgery and other
ablative surgical procedures of the larynx and
head and neck.

David Schwartz, PhD
Senior Scientific Director
|
|
David has
a broad background in pharmacology and therapeutics.
He received his PhD in Molecular Pharmacology
from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in
New York City, where he studied second messenger
systems in differentiating stem cells. David
was awarded a National Institutes of Health
Postdoctoral Fellowship to join the Laboratory
of Cell Biology at Rockefeller University, headed
by Dr. Günter Blobel, the 1999 winner of
the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. While
at Rockefeller, David studied ribosome/membrane
interactions in protein-secreting cells. For
the past 15 years, David has been a medical
editor and writer, working on diverse topics
including cardiovascular diseases, dermatology,
pain medicine, immunology, and respiratory diseases.
He has participated in the development of dozens
of primary research articles and reviews.
David is excited about joining
the Cerebrio team, where he has had the opportunity
to apply his experience in cardiovascular diseases
to the design of educational programs on hypertension,
heart failure, and the management of the post-myocardial
infarction patient. He is currently broadening
his experience at Cerebrio, participating in
the development of programs on diabetes and
other metabolic disorders.

Molly Durst, PhD
Scientific Director
|
|
Molly brings an integrative knowledge
of neuroscience and physiology to the Cerebrio
team. She received her PhD from the University
of Colorado in Boulder, where she studied psychoneuroimmunology
and the effects of estrogen on several aspects
of stress physiology. In recognition of Molly’s
research and potential, the National Institutes
of Health awarded her a prestigious training
fellowship. Her research, which was performed
under the mentorship of Dr. Monika Fleshner,
led to the publication of several peer-reviewed
journal articles and book chapters, poster presentations
at international meetings, and community speaking
engagements. Her teaching experience is varied
and includes basic clinical psychology courses
and advanced neurophysiology courses.
Molly has extensive experience volunteering
at the Mental Health Center in Boulder County.
She is also actively involved in local community
events in New York City. She is excited about
her work on the development of a column and
podcast for NPR’s Science Friday website.
At Cerebrio, Molly is working on accounts for
Parkinson’s disease-related dementia,
Alzheimer’s disease, and gastroesophageal
reflux disease. She looks forward to the development
of significant projects and relationships in
various therapeutic areas.

Shilpa Patel
VP, Account Director
|
|
Shilpa has spent the last 7 years
working in the medical education arena. She
has
extensive experience with the development of
educational activities including live meetings, internet initiatives and print media. She began her medical education career working
on the design and implementation
of innovative medical education initiatives
that were focused on the area of neurology;
specifically, Parkinsons disease, multiple
sclerosis, and epilepsy. She also gained knowledge
and expertise in the areas of pain management,
womens health, and infectious disease
programs. In addition, she has worked extensively
on publications and educational
programs for benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Shilpa currently directs CME initiatives that are focused
on cardiovascular disease management (hypertension,
diabetes, post-myocardial infarction, and heart
failure) for a broad spectrum of health professionals.
She also manages programs designed to improve
outcomes in patients with overactive bladder.
Prior to working in medical education, Shilpa
worked as a microbiology lab
technician at Warner Lambert Consumer Healthcare.
She performed clinical assays
and microbial activity tests on Listerine®
mouthwashes and Listerine PocketPaks®.

Sarah Dzurec
Account Executive
|
|
Sarah began her medical education
career at Cerebrio focusing on the administration
and management of live, print, and online CME
activities. In addition to program management,
she spent much of her time analyzing ways to
improve day-to-day processes. After successfully
implementing these processes, Sarah has expanded
her role to include the development of innovative
educational programming. She has experience
in several disease statues including Alzheimers
disease, Parkinsons disease, infectious
diseases, heart failure, osteoporosis, and allergic
rhinitis. She looks forward to broadening her
experience and impacting healthcare.
Sarah received her bachelors degree in
finance from Pennsylvania State University.

Sneha Patel
Assistant Program Manager
|
|
Sneha joins Cerebrio with experience
in multiple disciplines including public health,
emergency management, and education. Her interest
in healthcare led her to pursue a medical education
career at Cerebrio. Sneha manages the execution
of CME programs on a day-to-day basis and plays
an integral role in internal work-flow functions.
Sneha received her bachelors
degree in political science and international
relations from Boston University. Prior to working
in medical education, she was involved in the
nonprofit healthcare arena, completing public
health internships in England, India, and the
Dominican Republic. She also taught emergency
preparedness courses for the American Red Cross
in New York City.
